NOTE:
Underwriters Laboratories has developed additional safety requirements for motors used
in equipment where abnormal unit operation could likely be undetected by the user, thus
increasing the risk of personal injury or property damage.
For example, a motor with a locked shaft could operate undetected for an extended period
of time in an attic ventilator fan, thus increasing the risk of fire.
Fasco General Replacement and OEM Direct Replacement products for use in attic ventila-
tors, bathroom ventilators, whole house fans, wall furnaces and other units in the category
have been modified to meet these new standards.
Special attention must be given to ensure that ONLY the modified products are supplied to
customers with units of this type.
Motors that are NOT SUITABLE for use in unattended equipment are clearly marked as such
with a warning lable indicating the increased risk of fire.
The new safety requirements for air moving equipment used in unattended locations within
a structure are documented in UL Standard 507, Electric Fans.
